Smart,
catchy songwriting backed up with powerful live performances
is an apt description of New Jersey’s own Liquid Spider
Station. Devil Doll Records describes them as "powerful
music coupled with the uncanny Bob Mould vocals of Lead Singer
Bean, giving this band an edge that we haven't heard since
1980 with the first etches of Husker Du.” Liquid Spider
Station music has also been compared to the music of The Foo
Fighters and classic Aerosmith.
James
Bean is the unmistakable voice fronting Liquid Spider Station,
who can also be heard as the voice of Tommy Mottola on Wyclef
Jean's renowned solo album, “The Ecleftic-2 Sides II
a Book.” Drummer Jeff Czaja and Bassist Helena Holmes
steer the band's strong rhythmic undercurrent as K. Darren
Faller and John Schwartz’s powerful twin guitar attack
rounds out Liquid Spider Station’s sound.
Creating
music together for close to a decade, the Jersey City five
piece has released three full length LPs, “Exaggerated
Slices of Reality” (1996), “Firewhistle”
(1998) and “Drift” (2000), as well as a five song
EP, “.5” (2002). Liquid Spider Station has also
appeared on numerous compilations, most notably “X Type
Thing”, a tribute to the legendary Los Angeles punk
quartet X, which also includes tracks by Eddie Vedder and
The Supersuckers. Liquid Spider Station’s songs are
featured on Beetle Juice’s (of Howard Stern fame), "Beetle
Uncensored" video.
Liquid
Spider Station has toured the Eastern and Central United States
in support of their albums, and regularly performs for appreciative
crowds throughout the New York and New Jersey surrounding
area, in notable venues such as The Grand Ballroom, The Elbow
Room, CBGB and Maxwells, just to name a few.
